2025 US Military Aircraft Fleet Strength
Total US military aircraft are 13,043, including Fighters type 1,790, Attack Types 889, Transports aircraft 918, Trainers aircraft 2,647, Special-Mission aircraft 647, Tanker aircraft 605, Helicopters 5,843, and Attack Helicopters 1,002.
And bolstering America’s aircraft fleet are the F-15EX Eagle II, F-16C/D Fighting Falcon, fifth-generation F-22A Raptor, fifth-generation F-35A Lightning II, and various other aircraft.
Despite the ongoing conflict with Ukraine, Russia ranks second on the list with 4,292 aircraft and bolsters the country’s aircraft fleet with a variety of aircraft, including the fifth-generation Su-57 Felon, Su-35, MiG-29, MiG-31, and MiG-15.
Third on the list of military aircraft in 2025 is US rival China, with 3,309 aircraft. Aircraft include the J-20 (fifth generation), J-35, J-10, J-16, and Chengdu J-7, and various other aircraft.
After China, India is fourth on the list with 2229 aircraft. But while India has 4.5 generation Dassault Rafale, there is no fifth-generation aircraft.
