The world’s richest royal family is Saudi Arabia’s ruling royal family, the House of Saud, surpassing the combined fortunes of high-profile billionaires like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos. And in terms of wealth, the British royal family is far behind the rich Saudi family.

What is the wealth of the world’s richest royal family?

The House of Saud, the world’s richest family, has an estimated net worth of over $1.4 trillion. King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, 89, is the current king of the Saud dynasty who heads the family with a personal fortune of $18 billion, making him one of the richest monarchs of modern times. The combined income of this wealthy family mainly comes from the market capitalization of state-owned oil and gas companies and vast wealth of fossil fuel reserves, which have helped earn them the title of the world’s richest family.

Another notable member of the Saudi royal family is Prince Al Waleed bin Talal Al Saud, who once had a net worth of $13.4 billion, as well as being a businessman and investor.

For global comparisons, the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has a net worth of $359.4 billion, Mark Zuckerberg $230.7 billion, and Jeff Bezos $227 billion, according to the Forbes Real Time Billionaires List, although these numbers fluctuate constantly.

On the other hand, according to Forbes, the British royal family has an estimated wealth of $28 billion (£21.3 billion), far behind the Saudi family.

Saud Dynasty

According to Britannica, the dynasty, founded by Muhammad ibn Saud in the 18th century, takes its name from his father, Saud ibn Muhammad ibn Muqrin, who ruled the town of Al-Diriyah (near what is now Riyadh) from 1720 to 1725.

Since the rise of the Saud dynasty, the House of Saud has maintained its position as one of the richest families in the world and consists of approximately 15,000 members, with most of their wealth and influence coming from its vast oil reserves and investments.
