Nowadays, internet use has become a core part of people’s daily lives around the world, and access to it has become an essential infrastructure. But the cost that people have to pay for this internet access varies dramatically around the world.

At the top of the list, the wealthy, technologically advanced United Arab Emirates stands out with an average cost per Mbps of $4.31, almost double that of the second most expensive West African coastal country, Ghana ($2.58).

These high prices in these countries are often due to limited competition, infrastructure challenges, and regulatory factors, according to Visual Capitalist. While Switzerland has surpassed $2.00 per Mbps, Kenya and Morocco have also surpassed $1.00.
