Spain reached their second World Cup final after defeating France 2-0 in the semifinals at Dallas Stadium on Tuesday, July 14. Spain previously defeated France in the semifinals of Euro 2024 and the Nations League 2025.
France’s attacking power, led by legendary Kylian Mbappé, was strong in this World Cup, but Spain’s defense held it back. After defeating the French, the Spanish team has conceded just one goal in seven matches throughout the tournament.
Lamine Yamal, 19, was certainly right when he said France should fear Spain, as his team proved in the semi-finals. The France team is led by Mbappé, who has eight goals and three assists in the tournament; Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé; Michael Olise, who has a tournament-high five assists; and Désiré Doué.
A French defender fouled Yamal inside the box in the first half, leading to Mikel Oyarzabal scoring from the penalty spot, and Pedro Porro scoring another goal to send Spain into their World Cup final.

Spain will face defending champions Argentina or England in the final on Sunday at New York’s MetLife Stadium in a bid to win their second title.
Meanwhile, Spain is close to achieving another milestone, as the Spanish team beat France to equal Italy’s all-time record of 37 consecutive matches unbeaten in international soccer.

Spain has beaten France in three consecutive knockout semi-finals—at Euro 2024, the Nations League 2025, and the World Cup 2026. Meanwhile, France has reached the last four in three consecutive World Cups, winning once and finishing as runners-up once. However, France still has a chance to finish third after losing in the semi-finals.
Spain won their first FIFA World Cup title in 2010, defeating the Netherlands 1-0, and this year the team is one step away from winning their second title.
