California, home to the headquarters of major companies like Apple, Intel, and Alphabet, is the top US state with the most tech jobs in 2025. The state employs more than half a million tech workers, far more than any other.
New York is second with 286,000 tech workers, but last year, tech job growth was virtually stagnant.
Texas is in third place, with 226,000 tech jobs. According to Visual Capitalist data, the state has added more than 26,000 jobs in the sector since 2020. However, the number in the sector declined by 2% in 2025.
Washington is in fourth place, followed by Florida in fifth place and Georgia in sixth place with 112,000.

The top three states on the list (California, New York, and Texas) have over 1 million tech jobs combined, highlighting how concentrated the sector is.

However, the state shed thousands of tech jobs in 2025 due to economic uncertainty and the increasing impact of artificial intelligence. Overall, tech jobs declined by 2.8% in 2025, with California having the most.
