American DJ, hype man, and rapper Anthony Leonard Platt, also known as Unk and Atlanta hip-hop icon, died on January 24, 2025, at the age of 43. FOX 5 Atlanta Reported.
Wife Sherkita Long-Platt confirmed the news of her husband’s death on the social media platform Facebook on Friday (24 Jan), saying, “Please respect me and my family. I just lost my husband, and my kids just lost their father. Our life will never be the same. I LOVE YOU ANTHONY FOREVER.”
DJ Unk and Sherkita have 5 children together, including four girls and one boy.

Unk was born in Atlanta, the capital of the US state of Georgia. Unk rose to fame with his 2006 hit “Walk It Out,” which reached the Billboard Top 10. Unk became a defining voice of Southern hip-hop thanks to his infectious beats and energetic delivery.
Unk’s 2006 debut album Beaten Down To Block! Gained popularity in the music industry. And Anthony in 2008 showcased his talent as a DJ, rapper, and producer.
Unk worked with artists and producers and left a mark on Atlanta’s music scene. American DJ and record producer DJ Montay, who worked closely with Unk on several tracks, mourned the death on Facebook.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, DJ Unk was dealing with an undisclosed illness in 2009 that affected his career. But now the exact cause of his death is known.
