Brazilian footballer Neymar Jr. has purchased a luxury property valued at $26 million in Miami, United States. The property belonged to businessman Bent Philipson, founder of Philosophy Care.
The property is located in one of the most exclusive areas of the city, Bal Harbour, known for its private beaches, luxury hotels, and designer shops.
The land was purchased by Philipson in 2020, and the old house on the site was demolished. Initially listed for $30 million, the land had its price reduced before Neymar made the purchase.
The offering also includes approved designs for a 13,000-square-foot house made by the London-based design firm Elicyon. The property was most recently listed for $28.5 million, according to Zillow.
Rumor had it that Neymar might play in the US when the deal was made. Despite this, Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino expressed doubts about signing the player due to MLS (Major League Soccer) salary restrictions.
“We cannot mention a player just because he bought a house or started dating someone in Fort Lauderdale. We need to talk about solid facts and analyze what the league offers,” Martino said in a speech to journalists this Friday (1.nov.2024).
Neymar is currently the third highest-paid player in the world, with an annual salary of 160 million euros. In October, he returned to play for Al-Hilal after completing a year away from the pitch due to a knee injury in a match for the Brazilian national team on October 17, 2023.
