World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane will take charge of the French national team. His main goal is to strengthen the team and win trophies.
The French Football Federation on Tuesday appointed legendary Zidane as Didier Deschamps’ successor until the 2030 World Cup. Under Deschamps, the French team finished fourth in the 2026 World Cup. The appointment came two weeks after the World Cup ended.
Zidane is one of the greatest legends in the world of soccer; he played a key role in France winning their first World Cup in 1998, the same year he also won the Ballon d’Or. In 2006, he helped France reach the World Cup final again but lost the title. However, he won the Golden Ball as the best player in that tournament.
He played a key role in helping France win the Euro 2000 and won the Champions League with Real Madrid in the 2001–02 season. He also served as Madrid’s head coach and helped the club achieve significant success. During his tenure, the Spanish club made history by winning 3 consecutive Champions Leagues. This legend has achieved everything in his career.
Zidane is a figure who has achieved remarkable success as a player and coach. His management skills and ability to give his best players the freedom to dictate matches helped Madrid establish a new dominance in European football.
Since winning the World Cup in 2018 and the Nations League (2020–21), France has not won a major international tournament, even reaching the final or semi-finals, although Zidane is expected to play a key role in filling this gap.
