Manager Hansi Flick will take charge of Barca for the FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid match at the Camp Nou stadium on Sunday despite the death of his father.
Flick’s father will be honored at the stadium by club officials and players, as part of which a minute’s silence will be observed before the start of the game, and the players will take to the field wearing black armbands.
Barcelona expressed their love and condolences to Flick on Sunday afternoon, saying the club is with his family during this difficult time.
The 61-year-old Flick can help Barcelona secure a second consecutive La Liga title with a win or draw against Madrid in El Clasico.
The former Bayern Munich and Germany manager joined Barcelona in May 2024, replacing Xavi Hernández. The club has won four titles under his leadership so far.
Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez and the club’s board of directors said they deeply regret the death of Hansi Flick’s father. The club also expressed its condolences and love to their family and all their loved ones.
