David Beckham, a former English soccer player and businessman, has become the UK’s first billionaire sportsperson, according to the 2026 Sunday Times Rich List.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star and his wife, Victoria Beckham, have a combined net worth of an estimated £1.185 billion ($1.58 billion), according to the media outlet.

Inter Miami CF co-owner Beckham’s wealth has more than doubled in the past year, largely due to a surge in his ownership stake in the club and the club’s continued commercial growth and popularity following the arrival of Lionel Messi.

The 51-year-old soccer legend played a key role in convincing Messi to stay in Miami for another three years, according to the outlet. Beckham’s club has won a total of three titles since Messi arrived.

Another of Beckham’s assets is his property complex, built around the club’s new stadium, near Miami International Airport. The 131-acre site will house commercial facilities including offices, shops, residential buildings, and restaurants. The outlet reports that his investment in the project is worth £370 million (approximately $492 million).

One of the world’s most successful athletes, Beckham has further increased his wealth through brand endorsements, business ventures, and shares in various companies.

Meanwhile, his wife, Victoria Beckham, is earning well from her fashion business, which has added a new dimension to the family’s wealth.
